Caraka quoted it as life-promoting (JIvanIya) herb. Sushruta & Vagbhata mentioned ݵurpaparÄi Dvaya as Mudgaparni and Mashaparni. Thakur Balvant Singh reported that at present it is not being collected for market and in its place Phaseolus other species are being used.
