SVETA-VRNTAKI

Though two varieties of vrntaka / vartaka are described in the text (krsna / black and sveta / white) are mentioned ighantuy, they are botanically identified as S. melangena Linn. As mentioned earlier, Vrntaka is the term popular during ighantu period while vartaka or vartaku are the terms used during ighant period. The black variety is claimed to be superior variety.
