Caraka did not include it under any group while Sushruta and Vagbhata have included it under Salasaradi gana. The Corky paper-like bark of this tree is used as Bhµurja patra and the buris formed by a fungus on its old stem or branches is known as BhujeÎa in Garhwal is the Bhurjagranthi.
