Caraka quoted it under Purisha virajaniya group while Sushruta mentioned it under Rodhradi gana. Its bark and gum are the useful parts. Gum is mentioned as Kunduru by Bhavamishra. Dalhana described Kunduru as Sallakicopa (i.e., gum of Sallaki).
Botanical Description – It is a huge tree bearing small white flowers. It is found in most of the forests in the temperate regions or India.
