Katambhara is mentioned once each by carka (Ci.9/53) and vagbhata (A.H.Ut.6/36). Katambhara is identified with katabhi of brhat trayi. Scholars condisdered it as a controversial plant. It is mainly described as a visaghna (alexipharmic) dravya and is indicated in unmada, apasmara etc. Some consider katabhi and kinihi as synonyms. This plant is interpretedas aparajita, apamarga, jyotismati and sirisa bheda. As kinihi is identified as sevta sirisa, it will be ideal to accept Albizia procera as katabhi or katambhara.
