It is described under the name Rajjudala in the vedas. Uraga of Sleshmataka is rather prohibited for rituals. Caraka quoted it among Vishaghna dasaimani and Sushruta mentioned it among Phala Varga. Vagbhata indicated it as external application in Visarpa Cikitsa. Some other species viz., C. rotthii Roem. & Schult and C. wallichii G. Don may also be used in its place according to Thakur Balvant Singh.
Botanical Description: It is a small tree growing upto 12 m height and possesses whitish green flowers.
Major Chemical Constituents– Flavones, allantoin and -sitosterol isolated from stem bark. Seed oil consists of β-sitosterol, polmitic, stearic, oleic and linolenic acids.
Part Used– Stem bark, fruit, seed oil.
Dosage– Bark decoction 50-100 ml; fruit syrup 10-20 ml.
