This was quoted by Brihat Trayi but not included in any of the groups. It is mainly used as a general tonic. Bhavamishra quoted it as Sailasambhava pilu.
Botanical Description – It is a deciduous tree growing upto 30 m and greenish flowers are arranged in spikes (male & female ighantuy). It grows at 3000-10,000 ft ighan in Himalayas.
Major Chemical Constituents– Juglone, -hydroxyjuglone, vit A, vit B6, thiamine, riboflavin etc.
Part Used– Fruit, leaf, bark
Dosage– Powder 1-2 g., decoction 40-80 ml.
Research–
Jugulone inhibited growth of liver ascites carcinoma and 5-180 solid tumor in mice; at 0.1 mg/ml, it inhibited DNA formation by liver carcinoma cells in vitro (Chem. Abstr. 1988, 108, 876754).
