Caraka quoted Tinisa and Syandana side by side (S.S.Ci.3/257). Sushruta and Vagbhatahave mentioned it under Salasaradi and Asanadi group of drugs respectively. Arunadatta commented that Tinisa means Syandana.
Botanical Description – It is a tree which may grow upto 13 m height and possess light pink coloured flowers in bunches. It grows in the mountin regions of northern India.
Major Chemical Constituents– Homoferreirin, ougenin etc.
Part Used– Heart-wood.
Dosage– Decoction 50-100 ml.
