We come across description of parpati in bhavaprakasa as well which is also known as padmavati. It is an aromatic plant of North India. According to K.C.Chunekar, it is P. patchouli.
Botancial Description – It is an erect much-branched aromatic herb (upto 1.2 m high) with ovate crenate- serrate tomentose leaves, white flowers with purple streaks in whorls on terminal buds/ axillary spikes. The plant is native of Philippines.
Chemical Constituents – Leaves yield volatile patchouli oil (5.8%) and a resin.
