Kutira name is not traceable from brhat trayi texts while the term kuthera is observed. But, kuthera is identified as barbarika or arjaka (Ocimum species or Orthosiphon pallidus Royle). However, kutinjara which is mentioned as one of the synonyms for kutira is found in A.H.Su.6/93 under saka varga. The same is mentioned as kathinjara by caraka (Su.27/96) and susruta (Su.46/274) under saka varga. Kathillaka mentioned under saka varga by brhat trayi is identified as punarnava (T. portulacastrum). Dalhana considered kathinjara as aranyavastuka which is identified as Digera muricata by Thakur Balvant Singhji. Synonyms like dundura and gudirika are not observed in the brhat trayi works. Other synonyms pindi and pinditakawere used to indicate another variety of madanaphala i.e., Randia uliginosa DC. Since, loni and kutira are described together, they must be loni and brhallonika. Most importantly they are identified as P. quadrifolia Linn. And P. oleracea Linn. Respectively.
