Kakoli is one of the astavarga dravyas, prescribed extensively in brhat trayi. All the nighantus praised it as jivaniya and balya group. Thakur Balvant Singhji reported that R. procera is being used as kakoli.
Botanical description – It is an perennial herb.
Part used – root / rhizome
Uses – Tonic, appetizer, nutritious, aphrodisiac etc.
Note: During a study tour in 1986, auther observed a ighantu of using the one year old and more than two year old plant as the source of kakoli and ksirakakoli at Yogi Pharmacy, Haridwar.
