Mushka is an Ayurvedic medicinal tree used traditionally in the treatment of skin diseases, diabetes, urinary disorders, indigestion, intestinal worm infestation, poisoning, gulma etc.
Botanical Description – A moderate-tree, with grey branchlets and deciduous pubescent leaves; leaves opposite, 5-7-foliolate; leaflets ovate, entire, sometimes ovate-lanceolate, obtusely acuminate, base unequal; flowers in trichotomous cymes; frangrance more pronounced at night; calyx pubescent; corolla white with brown marks; capsule obovoid, obtuse, woody, pendulous; seeds pendulous winged. Flowring during February-April and fruiting later.
Chemical constituents – Betulinic and oleanolic acids from the fruits (J. Indian. Hem. Soc. 1983, 60, 1004)
Part used – Fruits, leaves, root-bark, root.
Uses – Root is useful for the treatment of leprosy.
