Rhus parviflora Roxb. (TINTIDIKA)

Brihat Trayi have quoted this plant. Its seeds are known as SœmakdŒnŒ in the market. However, they are substituted with the seeds of R. coriaria Linn. Tintid¶ka is often confused with AmlikŒ and v¾k¦Œmla but all are different plants. Sushruta described AmlikŒ and Tintiζka ighantuy. However, Bhavamishra considered both as synonyms of tamarind.

Botanical Description – It is a igha possessing light green flowers. It grows in the western Himalayas at 2000-5000 ft height.

Major Chemical Constituents– Tannins are present in the plant.

Dosage– Powder 3-6 g.
